Establishment and Affiliation
As part of the UNESCO efforts to expand knowledge and to foster local, regional and international collaboration in water sector, the UNESCO Chair in Water Resources-Sudan (UNESCO-CWR) was established in 1994. The agreement was signed by the UNESCO Director General and the Vice Chancellor of the Omdurman Islamic University on behalf of the Sudan Government. The main objective of UNESCO-CWR is to serve as a centre of excellence to promote water resources planning and management for better, effective, efficient and sustainable utilization. The Chair has evolved as an independent Centre for education, research, consultancy, and knowledge dissemination. The Chair is renowned as a Centre of excellence in water and related fields.
Mission
The UNESCO-CWR mission is "to build, enhance and strengthen capacity for sustainable water resources development and management through education, research, consultancy and knowledge dissemination."
Vision
We are“committed to promote the role of water in life”
